The Fratelli Triacca Winery has its origins in 1897 when Domenico Triacca, already a wine trader in Valposchiavo (in the Swiss Canton of the Grigioni), decided to produce autonomously the wine; so he bought 2000 square meters of vineyards in the area called Valgella.
The satisfying result of this and other initiatives convinced the third generation of the Triacca family to expand the company in Tunscany where they bought, in 1969, the Tenuta La Madonnina in the heart of the classic Chianti area.
That same year they acquired the La Gatta estate in Bianzone, a former Dominican monastery with 13 hectares of vineyard lands, considered to be the gem of the region’s winemaking.
Some years later the company expanded even further acquiring the Tenuta Santavenere in Montepulciano.
In the meantime commercialization of the products ventured to other regions like the Engadine and northern Grigione.
The Fratelli Triacca Winery was born from a family enterprise and after four generation it still is family-owned and managed, with all the love and passion that being close to the land and its products day by day means. In the 90s brothers Luca and Giovanni, of the fourth generation, started to get involved in managing and developing the company. Luca is the enologist and technical director of the three production areas, while Giovanni is in charge of the Swiss market.
All the wines of the winery are produced using grapes from proprietary vineyards, attentively selected and fined with methods refined in the course of the years and supported by the love the family put into the lands.
In the selection of Valtellina native wines we can find the wines from the Rhaetian terracings of Sondrio (IGT, the second of four recognized classifications of wine), VSQ sparkling wine, the Valtellina superiore DOCG (controlled and guaranteed designation of origin classification), the Sforzati DOCG and the delicious Grappa di Nebbiolo, all accurately produced to enhance the perfumes and tastes of the regional vines.
