Product Description

The ancient La Gatta monastery, once home to Dominican monks, emerges from the verdant greenery of the vineyards that paint the landscape of the property in the Municipality of Bianzone, in the province of Sondrio. The Triacca family greets clients and friends with a good glass of Casa la Gatta wine, welcoming all in the marvelous world of Valtellina viticulture. «Casa La Gatta» grows on steep slopes that surround the ancient palace where Nebbiolo grapes are sun-kissed and brought to optimal ripening. Controlled temperature fermentation confers unique fruity and fresh aromas to the final product, while the two-year fining in oak barrels gives it its harmony and elegance. All the wines produced by the Triacca wine-makers come from property vineyards, attentively following all production steps: from the fining plant, to pruning and harvest, to bottling. A guarantee since 1897. Tenuta La Gatta: founded 500 years ago in Valtellina. Dominican convent and a place for pilgrims to rest. Today this place has become a favorite destination for wine lovers. Guided tours are available as well as tastings, in groups or individually. The Tenuta La Gatta establishment is situated at a height of about 300 meters, allowing for a full view of the valley. With the Nebbiolo grape they produce quality wines of strong, lasting character. A deep knowledge of the territory and of the native grapes, combined with continued commitment and an equally constant care of the vines and all the stages of processing, guarantee Italian wines of excellent quality and appreciated worldwide. The organoleptic characteristics of the wines of Tenuta La Gatta are suitable for any time of the day; for a drink, a snack or to accompany lunch and dinner, pairing fine with fish and meat dishes as well as desserts.

Vinification

Maceration on the skins for 12 to 15 days in 130 hl stainless steel vats with automatic fullers. Three delestages at 27 °C controller temperature.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby red, intensely winy, fresh with fruity notes of raspberries; dry, rich, high-class with an equilibrate tannic content. A consistent and tastefully aromatic wine.
