The ski resort of Valmalenco, side valley of Valtellina, with its 35 km of ski slopes is the ideal place to test your sporting skills or simply to spend a day around the spectacular views.

The valley is accessible from Sondrio, its capital Chiesa in Valmalenco, a charming little mountain village situated between the Lantern and Mallero rivers, about 960 meters above sea level, and popular with skiers as ingress to the Palù Alps ski area.

The area has become known internationally for the inauguration of the Snow Eagle chairlift, cable car which, with its cabins for 160 people, reaches the height of 2080 meters to the spectacular Palù Alps, joining all the chairlifts and ski lifts of the area and several times theater of the World Cup finals.

From the Palù Alps, with the new quad chairlift, you can quickly reach the Cima Motta, about 2300 meters high, where you can admire, down below, Lake Palù with its pine forest surrounded by the peaks of Sasso Entova and Pizzo Fora.

From December to April the snow is never lacking in Valmalenco and, in extreme cases, the ski area is equipped with modern snow-making machines that keep the slopes on point throughout the year.

Of course you can also practice snowboarding, cross country skiing and snowshoeing thanks to the excellent services offered by Chiesa’s tourist and commercial structures and of the neighboring towns of Caspoggio, Lanzada and Torre Santa Maria small villages where you can sample local specialties.
